About

half a day

Nin is the oldest Croatian royal town, about 24 kilometres from Zemunik Donji, roughly a half-hour drive. The old centre sits on a small island linked to the mainland by two bridges. The pre-Romanesque church of the Holy Cross from the 9th century is known as "the smallest cathedral in the world" and also worked as a kind of sundial marking the equinoxes and solstices. Salt has been harvested in Nin since Roman times, and the salt works have a museum. The sandy Queen's Beach is close by, so a visit to the town combines easily with a swim.
