About
half a day to a full day
Zadar is the county seat and the nearest city to Zemunik Donji, about 16 kilometres away, roughly a twenty-minute drive. The peninsula holds the Roman Forum, which dates back to the 1st century BC, and beside it the early 9th-century church of St Donatus and the Cathedral of St Anastasia. At the western end of the waterfront are the Sea Organ by architect Nikola Bašić, opened in 2005, and his installation Greeting to the Sun, a circle 22 metres across made of three hundred solar panels. Ferries to the islands leave from Zadar's Gaženica port.
