Church of the Queen of Peace – Queen of Croats

About

The Church of the Queen of Peace – Queen of Croats is the parish church of Zemunik, a parish founded in 1641. It was built in 1995 and consecrated the same year by Ivan Prenđa, then coadjutor archbishop. It is a single-nave building roughly in the shape of a cross, with a stone altar, a stone ambo, a wooden statue of the Queen of Peace on a stone base, and an organ. The bell tower holds three bells. During the Croatian War of Independence the church and the bell tower were badly damaged by artillery; everything has since been repaired. The Queen of Peace is the patron of Zemunik Donji, so her feast day, 22 August, is also Municipality Day.
